THE WEE YIN'S FINE!!!!

Had the amnio on Tuesday, they checked chromosomes 13, 18 and 21, Pataus, Edwards and Downs. Before the detailed scan, the Sister took us into a room and went into detail how everything would work. In the scan they would look for markers ie, measure the thigh bone as people with Downs are short etc.

The consultant doing the amnio and scan was lovely, very laid back and friendly. She took a few measurements and I was pleased to see baby was measuring 2-4 days ahead. She then turned to me and DH and said, "which one of you is overly tall?" we looked at each other "Eh?" She said again, "which one of you is overly tall? This baby's got really long legs!" I could have kissed her!!!!

She had a check on my fibroid which has got a few cm's bigger, and then said, "there's no question how this baby's coming out then, c-section" which I thought was a brave statement to make unless everything was looking good.

Anyway, not sure if I'm ammune now to medical tests with everything else we've been through to get pregnant, but the amnio was a doddle. Nowhere near as scary as it's made out to be. No cramping afterwards, just a wee pain that felt like a bruise for about 20 mins.

The Sister called today with the results, and I sobbed with relief after I put the phone down. I feel like we haven't been able to enjoy any of this pregnancy with all the worry! We'll get a letter out in a couple of weeks time after they check every other chromosome. Once you have the letter, you can give them a call and ask the sex of the baby, which we will definately be doing, but keeping a secret!!
